There are several ways for one's confidence to receive a bit of a boost and one of those is a cashier thinking two 30-something women are just college girls and requesting to see proof of age.
What?
*looks at pictures*
You aren't under 30?
*scratches his head*
You Could have fooled me.
[/flattery]
HA HA! I'm just the opposite! The clerks usually see the kids trailing behind me and do not believe that I'm under thirty. Wait a minute..that's not funny, that's just sad!
Posted by: Kadi at September 21, 2004 08:24 PMYou know, Kadi, we were without children. That must be the trick....
Posted by: Rae at September 21, 2004 08:50 PMAhh, thank you, Jeremy. Kris and I both thank you :)
Posted by: Rae at September 21, 2004 08:51 PMRae, isn't that absolutely the best?!? I have been carded many times since turning 21, but none brought me as much unbridled joy as last year when, while out to dinner to celebrate my 35th birthday, I was carded by the waiter when I ordered a margarita. Here's to good genes!
Posted by: Alisha at September 23, 2004 01:37 PMI've been carded once, at Applebee's, about 3 years ago. But then the waiter told me it's a matter of policy, and all flattery ended there...
Posted by: Eduardo at September 24, 2004 01:06 PMAlisha- it definitely is the best!
Eduardo, I have had similar experiences. Once, I was with a friend who mostly definitely appeared younger than I, and when the waitress requested her I.D., meaning well I am sure, she looked over at me and said, "I don't need yours. You look old enough." I knew in that exact moment, she had to be in her lower twenties herself. I confess to thinking rather satifactorily that perhaps now, years later, she remembers that moment each time she isn't carded.
