Oh, yes, I can relate! I've been close to tears after losing long, intelligent, organized and engaging writing.

Old Dr. Jerry Pournelle (a former aerospace scientist and a columnist on BYTE Magazine for well over 20 years now, and also arguably the first blogger--ever) had this as his motto: "Save early and often -- on this hang all the law and the profits".

You know, I occasionally save as a draft while writing, but more often, I do not. I have learned the lesson. No more.
